The very first stop on our recent massive road trip set a high bar for hotel rooms along the way. I want to state up front that my standards for a road trip hotel are vastly different than they would be for an extended stay. In this situation, I’m looking for ease of access, value pricing, and free amenities. The hotel we selected for our first night on the road, Comfort Inn in Beaver, Utah, met all of these standards.

What’s awesome?
- The rooms are very spacious. Our room had two queen sized beds and a pull out couch, plus a small kitchen area with a full sized table, a microwave, a coffee maker and a refrigerator. Dining options in the area are somewhat limited (we “dined” at the Burger King in the adjacent gas station), so if you have your own food to heat up this could be helpful.
- The hotel has a small workout room with treadmill, elliptical and weights, plus an indoor pool and jacuzzi. If you want to sneak in a workout after a day on the road, it’s simple to do so at this hotel.
- One of my favorite aspects of this hotel was the stunning view from our room. Utah is a beautiful place and the views from every angle at this hotel show off the majesty of the surrounding mountains.
- The front desk staffer was friendly and efficient.
- The check in cookies are delicious with fresh coffee, served 24 hours. The breakfast is free and good.
