Why pilgrims come
A sacred place worth the journey.
Hungary's great Byzantine Catholic Marian shrine centers on the Pócs icon tradition. The 1696 image was transferred to Vienna; the local sanctuary's replacement image became the focus of later reported weepings in 1715 and 1905. This is a sacred-image shrine, not a Marian apparition record.
