The pilgrim’s guide
What makes this visit meaningful
Santiago Cathedral is the spiritual destination of the Camino, but it deserves more than an arrival photograph. Attend a Pilgrim Mass, descend to the apostolic tomb, pray before the high altar and complete the visit through the Pilgrim Office and historic city.
Tomb of St. James
Descend beneath the high altar to pray at the traditional apostolic tomb.
Pilgrim Mass
Attend one of the cathedral’s daily pilgrim liturgies and arrive early during Camino season.
The Apostle’s shrine
Follow the cathedral’s current access route to venerate the image above the high altar when permitted.
Pilgrim Office
Camino pilgrims should complete their arrival formalities separately from the cathedral visit.
