Why pilgrims come
A sacred place worth the journey.
One of Ecuador’s defining Marian pilgrimages, centered on a sixteenth-century image associated with Oyacachi and later transferred to El Quinche. The shrine preserves five centuries of devotion and ex-votos. Apparition language belongs to the devotional tradition surrounding the image and must not be restated as a modern Vatican supernatural judgment.
