The historic archcathedral of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and burial place of Venerable Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, Patriarch Josyf Slipyj, and other hierarchs. Sheptytsky is Venerable, not Blessed or saint; Slipyj's cause is distinct. The cathedral was seized after the Soviet pseudo-synod of 1946 and returned to the UGCC in 1990.
