The story
Teresa was born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in Skopje and entered religious life before serving in India. In Kolkata she founded the Missionaries of Charity, whose work centered on direct service to people experiencing profound poverty, illness, abandonment, and dying.
Her pilgrimage geography joins distinct chapters: baptismal memory in Skopje, vocational discernment at Letnica, decades of life and service in Kolkata, and later worldwide devotion. The Mother House preserves her tomb and the institutional home of the community she founded.
How to read this pilgrimage
Kolkata is the central destination for her tomb and mature mission; Skopje and Letnica preserve earlier formation and vocation rather than her later ministry.
St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
